Andrea Gómez works across painting, drawing, sound and graphics exploring how images shape knowledge. Her practice brings together scientific and mythological forms of representation, looking at how images produce meaning and how that meaning can shift.
She works between the analog and the digital, often combining scientific diagrams, classification systems, and archival images with speculative and mythological references. By bringing these different visual languages together, she questions the idea that images and systems of representation are neutral.
Through layering and fragmentation her work resist to a single interpretation.
It remains open, allowing different meanings and connections to emerge.
At the centre of her practice is an interest in the limits of representation: how images can create, distort, and transform meaning, and how uncertainty can become a way of seeing.
